This month, we have our own Daniel Pfarr talking about Sophronitus (Cattleya) cernua. This beautiful miniature species is native to Brazil to northeastern Argentina. This orchid can bloom almost anytime of year with brilliant reddish orange flowers. This is Daniel's first time giving a talk to our society and he will give us some great information on this species and how to grow it. This should be an excellent talk for any level of orchid grower.
We will also have our Show & Tell tables where members bring in their blooming orchids for everyone to enjoy. Come early (the doors open at 6:00PM) to check out the orchids and talk to the growers about them. They can give you tips on how to grow them and other orchids in our area. You can also check them out at the break in the meeting.
We have refreshments available at each meeting. After our speaker, we take a break and have a quick snack and/or drink. This also gives you a chance to take a look at the Show & Tell tables.
The meeting is open to the public; you need not be a member to attend. For more information about our meetings and the society, check out our website at https://www.sacramentoorchids.org/.
